The Meal

Posted on: June 2nd, 2013 by admin

We are currently in the processing of creating our new show entitled The Meal, which will be presented across Northern Ireland after premiering at The MAC Theatre Belfast on the 13th of June (all dates have been provided below) .

The show is a new approach for DQDT as we are working with Emma Jordan (Prime Cut Productions Belfast) and linking with Mona Eltahawy an award wining columnist from Cairo and Palestinian artist Dina Mater. We also return to further development our relationship with Composer Andy Garbi.

The Meal engages wonderful artists and social commentators from across Europe and the Middle East in an exciting and challenging high quality physical theatre performance.

4 performers (Jenny Ecke, David Ogle, Vasiliki Stasinaki & Dylan Quinn) physically and virtually indulge in a rich mix of food, movement and exploration with 2 inspiring individuals from Cairo and Gaza. Via a series of personal, intriguing, engaging and revealing stories combined with movement, text and music  the performers seeks to provoke, question, stimulate and inspire.

The Meal premières at The MAC Belfast on the 13th and 14th June and moves on to:

Armagh Market Place Theatre: 15th June @ 8pm

Newcastle Annesely Hall: 21st June @ 8pm

Derry Millennium Forum: 26th June @ 8pm

Ballymena Braid Arts Centre: 27th June @ 8pm

Enniskillen Portora Royal School 28th & 29th June @ 8pm

Tickets are £10 full price and £6 concession in all venues and are available at the venues apart from Newcastle and Enniskillen where tickets will be available from ourselves. Please click here for ticket details and purchasing:

The Meal has been made possible with funding from the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

New Production

Posted on: January 10th, 2013 by admin

DQDT have been busy developing a new production during November and December of this year and it has been a very rewarding experience.

Artistic Director Dylan has been working with dancer Jenny Ecke and Composer/Singer Andy Gardi  and will be staged in 2013.

“ The piece explores the complexity of dependancy, control and shifting power balances in a macro context whilst also demonstrating how this affects the micro world we live in. The piece seeks to touch on the fragile balance of control as well as the insidious nature of power.”

The production has been supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
